Welcome-Bienvenidos to the Oregon Chapter of the National Association of the Hispanic Nurses/ Asociación de Enfermería Hispana

Our Mission is that we are committed to advancing the education and professional development of nurse, advocating for Latino/a  communities, and campaigning for health and social justice in underserved communities.

The Oregon Chapter is a young organization by most standards, founded in 1998. The original group of nurses who envisioned the need for a chapter in Oregon was comprised of Latino/a and non-Latino/a nurses. They represented public and private institutions but they all had the same desires to unite, to support, and to make a difference! They were the pioneers of the process. And those that have followed since have been able to continue the momentum through their leadership and determination, and in partnership with  other organizations and institutions  Thank you to all our familia of nurses that have enriched and made the Oregon Chapter a reality!

Today, I would like to take the opportunity to invite you to join us in growing the organization both locally and statewide; increasing the diversity in the workforce; mentoring a student, providing a voice for the communities that can’t be at the table; working towards reducing health disparities; and of course creating a supportive group of friends. What could be better than this or more rewarding?

You will find that our members represent a diverse group of healthcare professionals who are unique in their roles, generations, languages, history, ethnicity, and interests. Our members are passionate when it comes to serving our communities and making sure that the underserved have a voice when it comes to health and social issues. We believe that if you are interested in working with us that language, nursing licensure, or ethnicity are not barriers in becoming a member of the organization!

I encourage you to browse our website and learn more about us an organization.  If you are interested and have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me or any of the officers listed.  Hope to meet you soon!
